BBC Strikes Down Its Podcasts From Google Assistant And App

The British Broadcast Corporation removed its very own podcasts which were uploaded on the Google Podcast app.

The British Broadcast Corporation has removed its podcast service from the official Google Podcast app and putting in efforts to make it inaccessible to the Google Assistant and other devices through extension. BBC official posted a blog claiming that the American based company directs the users who search for BBC podcasts to its own podcast service rather than directing to any third party or BBC Sounds. Its expresses its concern over cheap practices undertaken by Google.

BBC wants their content to be accessible to the most of the people however, it is not comfortable with Google’s actions. The corporation had asked the company to exclude them from such practices to which Google has refused. It blames Google for limiting the listeners choice thereby wants to remove their very own podcasts. BBC asserts the importance of personalizing services for their audience and ensures to make the programs and services better for the target audience. The company is not at all happy to remove its content from services but Google has forced them to take such steps.

The corporation is currently in discussion with Google to resolve the matter and work with them in upcoming projects to cater the interests of the listener. Until then the BBC has just blocked Google services via robots.txt file, something which Google respects and abides by.
